On Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Alive Hospice residence in Nashville, Tennessee after an extended illness, God summoned Jim Henry Alexander from his earthly tabernacle to His heavenly abound.

Jim Henry Alexander was born on March 30, 1928 to the late William Lee Alexander and Katie Bell Weeden Alexander.  Jim was preceded in death by three sisters, Hattie Lee Alexander, Minnie Gay Johns and Addie Mai Slay.  He was also preceded in death by four brothers, John Alexander, MC Alexander, Bobby Alexander and Sammie Alexander.

Jim attended public school where he played the drums at Old Holloway School.  Jim loved doing things for people and enjoyed most, driving his Cadillac.

On August 4, 1956, Jim married Josie Mary (Mai) Fields Alexander who preceded him in death on January 14, 2001.  With this union, they were blessed with one daughter.

Early in life, Jim became a member of Brandon Chapel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Frank Brown.  Afterwards, Jim moved his membership to Brandon View Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. John Brown. In 2001, he moved his membership to Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Moses Pope where he was a faithful member until his health began to fail him.  Jim always loved to go to church; sick or well, he attended.  Jesus allowed Jim to serve on the deacon board at all three locations.

Jim leaves to cherish his memory, a very devoted daughter, Dorothy (Joe Robert) Smith; foster son, Ralph (Jackie) King; foster daughters, Connie Malone and Darla Robinson; three devoted grandsons, Michael (Christa) Alexander, Montreal (Gazelle) Allen and George (Monique) Allen; nine great grandchildren, DisZerrick (Dre) Tillage Alexander, Renaecker Alexander, JaKota Alexander, Omari Allen, Isaiah Lewis, Malia Johnson, Kerimario Johnson, Xavier Jackson, Sha’Nayla Shelton; Jim had great grandsons that loved their great granddaddy dearly, JaKota, Omari, Isaiah and Kerimario; and three great granddaughters that loved their great granddaddy dearly, Renaecker, Malia and Sha’Nayla; 13 foster grandchildren; 14 foster great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Annie Williams Alexander; one great niece who loved her uncle Jim too, Monterria Hallmes; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
