Bruce Calvin Clark was born on November 13, 1947 to the late, but proud parents, James Allen Clark and Mary Samella Miles Clark. He transitioned from his earthly life on January 31, 2015. He received his education in the public school system of Rutherford County. He professed his Faith in Christ at an early age at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Smyrna, TN under the leadership of Rev. O.C. McClain.

Bruce was affectionally known as the “Horse Man” to many. He was a horse breeder, trainer and showman of many horses in Tennessee and various states and the owner of one horse. He was the first black man to show and win a trophy and blue ribbon in Putnam County.

Bruce was preceded in death by his long time companion, Annie Swader; his parents; and sisters, Marcie Clark Turner and Irma Ceola Alexander. He leaves to cherish his loving memories, six children, Sherry Brown, Shawndale Lawrence, Deanne (James) Swader, Jerry Mintolow, all of Murfreesboro, TN, Kathy (Michael) Alston and Jessica (Kevin) Cofield of Austin, TX; sisters Marion (Eddie) Appleton of Smyrna, TN, Mildred (John) Banks, Sophia Clark, Polly Johnson of Murfreesboro, TN; one brother, Casey (Joyce) Clark of Murfreesboro, TN; sister-in-law, France McKnight of Murfreesboro, TN; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; devoted friends, Elbert Marable, Brenda McFarland, Larry Smith, Robert McCullough and Randy Fann; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
